If you haven’t looked at the forecast yet and just can’t wait, skip to the end.

March is just around the corner, and we want to make sure you’re in the loop with upcoming events and important dates!

Viking Fest – Saturday, March 8th
Get your finest Viking attire ready and don’t forget your favorite drinking chalice! Before skiing became the beloved winter sport and a place to holiday as we know today, it was the go-to pastime for Vikings. Archaeological evidence shows rudimentary skis existed as far back as 6,000 years ago in Scandinavia and became a staple of Viking life for travel, hunting, and entertainment. They were so into skiing that they even worshipped (as most of you all know) Ullr, the Norse God of Skiing.

Spring Break Mountain Hours – Full mountain open: March 15–23 & March 28–30 and Lower mountain open: March 31
Come and stay for a few days or more during the break! Accommodation in the Cain Lodge Hostel will be listed the Wednesday before the weekend at 5 PM.

Parking lot camping? Also an option if you and your crew are up for a few days of camping under the stars.

Cain Cup and Backcountry Fest Photos can be viewed in the links below! Shoutout to Aidan Gay for capturing memories from both events. Be sure to give him credit – https://www.instagram.com/aidangay Check the galleries out here – Cain Cup PhotosBackcountry Fest Photos.

It’s snowing and sitting at -2º in the parking lot! The forecast is giving what we’ve been looking for in the next few days through the weekend into Monday. Get stoked! ❄️

Huge Reminder – Be Prepared! Always have chains and make sure they fit and that you know how to put them on.

We’re all pumped for the fresh snow, but incidents can happen fast. That said, Mount Cain does not provide backcountry rescue services.  People venturing out of bounds must be prepared for self-rescue. You are your group’s best chance of survival. Be avy savvy – check out this trip planner from Avalanche Canada before heading out.

See you on the slopes!
