This Saturday, January 18th is the day to show everyone how speedy you are! It’s time to get those racing skis waxed and ready to fly because the Cain Cup is only a few days away. Who will be crowned King and Queen of the Mountain? The fastest racers will earn their spot in Cain history, with their names engraved on the Cain Cup trophy (which resides in the lodge at Turk’s, no big deal).
Registration kicks off at 9:00 AM and runs until 10:30 AM at Turk’s Tavern. The entry fee is just $10 or two cans of non-perishable food items. Don’t miss your chance to join in!
The Giant Slalom (Cain Style) races begin at 11:00 AM, starting on the upper ridge and finishing on the lower ridge. The excitement wraps up with the Awards Ceremony at 3:45 PM, where we’ll crown the Cain Cup 2025 King & Queen of the Mountain. This is one event you don’t want to miss!
Important Reminders for racers that all participants must sign a waiver before racing, this event is for ages 16+ and helmets are mandatory.
Swing by the lodge before the races to grab a coffee, fill out your forms, and get ready to race!
We would like to extend a huge thank you to our event sponsors – Sporty Bar & Grill, Cove Apparel, Macandales and Napa.
Ever wondered why your favourite menu item is called the “MEATSAWmich”? It’s named in honour of Cain legend Tavis Menzies, fondly known as “Meatsaw”.
To celebrate Tavis’s unforgettable legacy, his friends and family are hosting the very first “Meatsaw Mountain Film Festival” on January 25th at 7:00 PM in the lodge.
We will be showing clips of Tavis’ life starting with G-rated to PG. To find out more, you have to be here.
The ridge currently has a base of 83.4 cm and is sitting at 4ºc. We should be seeing a light covering of snow tonight into tomorrow morning. We all have been watching the forecast closely and you can too with some of the links we have on our site here.
See you on the slopes,
Kim
