To those who helped fix the grader so we could clear the road for a safe opening last weekend: Lemare Lake Logging, Ian Zimmerman, and Kevin Moore, we thank you! At a moment’s notice, you went out of your way with knowledge, parts, and labour to prioritize fixing the grader and saved our opening day, which was especially important given how late we were in the season. Lemare always steps up to help us when in need. Lemare, Ian, Kevin YOU are all Cain Stars.
Opening weekend didn’t go quite as smoothly as we had hoped, our upper lift broke down late Saturday and the motor had to be completely removed to be repaired. As we have come to learn when things go haywire Cain Stars stepped up. And to those Stars we are grateful.
To those who helped to prepare and fix our lifts and their motors: Big THANK YOU to all those who helped to get the upper lift going for opening weekend safely and efficiently. We value and recognize that this meant taking time out of your busy schedules to lend your knowledge, skill and energy. It took quite a bit of time and effort to get all the sheaves turning due to ice, before hanging the Tbars. Tony Pannell, Drew Nagainis, Matt Tjepkema, Connor Scott, Dazy Weymer, Peter Knott, Seanski, Avery, and Golobar YOU are all Cain Stars.
Special shout out to Dean Davidson for doing some sleuthing on the lower lift and making a special trip up to the mountain to ensure it was ready to load patrol bright and early Saturday morning. Giant Cain Star
Sunday, the upper lift suffered catastrophic failure. The motor was removed and has been swapped with its identical twin as of Tuesday evening. Thank you to All Star Tony Pannell for working so hard to make this swap happen, Tony worked in our shop solo all day Monday to prepare our alternate motor for active duty and ensuring it would fit back in place. Tony YOU are a Cain Superstar!
Thank you to the crew that helped remove and re-install a motor at L3. Casey Brown, Stew Abernethy, Darren Anonson, Avery Walker, Jean-Luc Parrhesia, Lucas Smith, and Seanski! Cain Stars all around!
Feel free to buy these guys a thank-you beer the next time you are at Turks Tavern
So, we’ve got our motors runnin’ and we’re ready to head out on the highway…. but before you do here are just a few more key pieces of information:
The weather forecast is for possible freezing rain on Friday so please drive with care, carry chains, know how to use them, and be prepared for winter driving conditions.
Early season conditions remain, please ski with care, respect the ski patrol boundaries/closed runs, and be prepared to adjust as the weather does.
The Wolf Pack (Cain’s Sunday morning Jr. Racing/Free Skiing team) still needs volunteer coaches. Anyone interested can email Christian ctuters@mountcain.com Riders must be at least 14 and a skilled skier or snowboarder to coach with the wolfpack. Perks are cutting the line and shredding with little rippers. Parents/Youth can learn more about how to join the pack HERE.
