We’re on track to kick off the season! Unfortunately, Mount Cain won’t be opening this weekend due to the warm weather we’ve had this week and the lack of snow on the lower mountain. The good news is that temperatures will be dropping again starting Friday afternoon — so cross your fingers (and your toes) and raise a glass to Ullr! The Ridge Run is currently sitting at 53cm.
As we prepare to welcome familiar faces and new guests from near and far, we want to start by giving a massive thank you to our amazing volunteers who’ve been working hard to get us ready for the season ahead.
A big shoutout to Dave Howich, Avery Walker, Tony Pannell and Lucas Smith for putting in countless hours during the off-season prepping the snowcats – your efforts don’t go unnoticed!
A reminder to those hoping to get a first look at any accommodation cancellations, you can follow this link to add your email to our list.
The road up to the mountain is still in the process of being resurfaced to make your drive a bit smoother. However, it’s that time of year again when carrying chains is mandatory to visit Cain. Be sure they fit your vehicle, and that you know how to use them! Putting on chains is more common than not, and they are required for all vehicles, including 4x4s with good snow tires. Being unprepared puts both you and other drivers at risk, so make sure you’re ready.
We hope to have an update everyone is looking forward to next week.
Until then,
Kim
