I do. And I witness it every weekend at Cain – in the kindness of strangers, the generosity of Ullr / Mother Nature, and in laughter that echoes between the mountains. With the season drawing to a close, that magic seems ever more sweet. Cherish it while you can.
A few things you should know about:
The kids rocked it at KidsFest – medals, costumes, ice sculptures, tobogganing stuffies, and lots of laughter. Thank you to the kids, volunteers, and Matiss for making the magic happen.
Masks are no longer required inside, but proof of vaccination is required, so bring your vaccine ID if you want to get into the lodge – also a place where magic happens.
Ever wanted to date one of our lovely patrollers? Better come to Cain on April 2 because we are auctioning off some of our best and bravest so they can make some magic with you. All proceeds go to the Ski Patrol to help them deliver the very best service that you never want to have to use. There will also be a movie, a BBQ, raffles, and prizes for best retro costumes – think fluorescent onesies and other 80’s gems. Sponsors include Strait and Narrow and Devils’ Bath Brewing.
Cain is open for the next 2 weekends (March 26/27 and April 2/3), which means there are only 2 Magic Mondays left of this season – March 28 and April 4. The last day we are open to the public is Saturday, April 9. Check out the schedule for more details. On Sunday, April 10 we are closed to the public and we will finally let the liftees get in a run on Staff Appreciation Day.
The world is a strange and uncertain place these days, so please take care of yourself. You can get away from it all for a day or two at Cain, where everyone is a bit strange, and the news is nowhere to be found. Like I said, it is magic.
It is -.06°C and there is a 166cm base on the Ridge Run. The forecast calls for dropping temperatures and some new snow on Sunday.
See you on the slopes,
Jen
